Matthew Butler is a Massachusetts attorney and the founder of MR Business Law, a business law practice based in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. He works with small businesses, closely held companies, business owners, entrepreneurs, commercial landlords and tenants, and individuals on contracts, business transactions, commercial real estate, and related legal matters. Attorney Butler's practice includes drafting and reviewing a range of business and commercial agreements, including employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, confidentiality and nondisclosure agreements, franchise agreements, commercial leases, purchase and sale agreements, asset purchase agreements, membership interest and ownership transfer agreements, financing instruments, promissory notes, settlement agreements, and other commercial contracts. He also handles business purchase and sale transactions, asset and ownership transfers, and related deal work. In addition, he assists clients with entity formation, LLC operating agreements, shareholder and member agreements, corporate governance documents, and provides ongoing outside general counsel support, including commercial lease review and negotiation. Before founding MR Business Law, Attorney Butler practiced at a Massachusetts law firm where he represented businesses and individuals in commercial transactions, real estate matters, corporate governance issues, and business-related disputes. His background also includes litigation experience involving contracts, construction issues, mechanic’s liens, partnership and ownership disagreements, insurance disputes, and landlord-tenant matters. That experience helps him review and draft agreements with an eye toward clarity, risk allocation, and avoiding future disputes. Attorney Butler earned his JD/MBA, with a concentration in Business Law, from Suffolk University. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the District of Massachusetts. He is also a Massachusetts Notary Public. Attorney Butler's goal is to provide practical, responsive, and understandable legal guidance to clients who need help with business, contract, and real estate matters.
